Hi, my name is Maelle Arboite. I'm a 22-year-old Haitian American that grew up in Westchester, NY. I now live in Dallas, TX with my family after moving my sophomore year of high school. I'm currently getting my master's at the University of Miami in Biomedical Engineering. I'm a pre-med student and plan on applying for med school right after I graduate in June of this coming year. This will be my first research position, and I'm extremely excited to gain more knowledge in this area and hope to continue doing research after I graduate during my gap year. As I've had more experience in the clinical side of the medical field with shadowing and volunteering at hospitals, I'm eager to gain this different perspective in healthcare. Being a young black woman that has encountered many challenges throughout their college career, I believe that it's imperative for those still in high school to have someone there to guide them and help navigate through any obstacles that someone older, like myself, may have already experienced. I really look forward to this new opportunity presented to me, and I'm excited by what lies ahead. |
