My hometown is Titusville Florida, and I am currently a junior majoring in Biomedical Engineering on the pre-medical track. Outside of my studies at UM, I enjoy participating in the Phi Delta Epsilon pre-medical fraternity, the Hammond Butler Gospel Choir, being an Orientation Leader, and working as a Desk Assistant for the Shalala Student Center. Upon graduating from UM, I plan to attend medical school to become a dermatologist. This immersive lab experience will give me the valuable research exposure I need in order to prepare for a career in the medical field and help me enhance my knowledge of the research process overall. As a young Black woman myself, I am looking forward to being able to mentor black high school students who may have the same career aspirations as me. When I was in high school, I knew how valuable it was to have mentors that could relate to me demographically in my academic and professional journey. So, I hope that I can give another younger student hope for their future as well. |
